Shiloh Baptist Church began as a Sunday School in an old house located in a cattle pasture in 1865 right after the Emancipation Proclamation was proclaimed.  The first teachers were Brothers George Poston and Frank Dixon.  A series of services were held and at its conclusion a decision was made to build a church in the business meeting.  Rev. Samuel Foxx served as the first pastor.
